I believe I’ve lately made two of the most important decisions in my personal life.
As a recent graduate, I think that I am equipped to begin working as an actor. The two-year plan has helped me develop fundamental technique without which it’d not be possible to create purposeful work. I spent the first year of living truthfully under imaginary circumstances, crafting an acting relationship, and training developing the fundamental building blocks of behaving like the best way to be listening. This has enabled me deepen and to investigate the distinct parts of my life that was emotional. Moreover, second year was completely focused on breaking down a script and developing character. This work has given me the opportunity by working on complex material, which taught me step into someone else’s shoes and basically how to capture the essence of character to be constantly challenged.
Movement and Language programs at the studio work and the Voice hand in hand with the training that is acting. The first two levels have allowed me to locate and release habitual patterns of tension that blocked expertise and disconnected me from my acting item which kept me from living and really listening moment to moment. Likewise, working with text that is established and developing a bigger and more specific physical vocabulary during second year directly knowledgeable character work.
The studio and class sizes happen to be purposely kept small so that faculty and students are able to work together. The small class sizes mean that, as a pupil, I had the opportunity to work on a regular basis and constantly believed that the teachers were tracking my progress and were able to give me personal comments throughout the 2 years. This cozy setting and the challenging work additionally created strong bonds among the pupils and really felt like being part of a family.
I’d taken a lot of courses and worked with lots of teachers, and I will say with no doubt that the faculty at the Maggie Flanigan Studio is beyond exceptional. I have learned so much from them independently and jointly, about what it indicates to be enthusiastic, to work with artistry, and to be totally immersed in one’s craft. The staff and faculty create a nurturing and safe environment where I felt I could take risks and experiment.
Most importantly, the studio has taught me what acting can be. This training set the highest standard for artistic expression and gave me the tools to reach. Reach for something which is unattainable, but that reaching is just the creative struggle from which anything human, arty, and worthwhile emerges. That knowledge in itself is priceless. If you’re courageous and humble enough to set out on a lifelong journey in art and give yourself over to something bigger, you’ve only located a dwelling.
