During this interview with Katie, Sara Kohler talks about the Meisner Summer Intensive at the Maggie Flanigan Studio.
The Meisner Intensive provides pupils with all the chance to experience what this means to train as an expert celebrity. In this interview, Sara talks about her experience in the six-week summer intensive and how it was different than what she previously thought the professional training was like.
Q: What did you believe acting training was the Six Week Summer Intensive, before you started?
A: I though that acting training was a good deal of what I did in college. I didnt believe it was necessary for me personally. I didnt understand what training so coming here and really meant, and learning the start of the Meisner technique, I started to appreciate that training was nothing that I believed it was. Its merely a brand new way of working that I had never even thought of and I was looking to step into these characters within my scene study classes that I had no notion the best way to step into. I really had no technique and I didnt understand what I was doing. Coming here Ive started to understand just how to work and Ive already learned so much.
Q: What happened during the Meisner Summer Intensive that altered your perspective on training?
A: I had been merely constantly looking forward to my cue and saying a line the way that I believed Id done homework on and that I’d rehearsed it and actually I did understand how to do assignments, which is insane. Merely thinking back to the summertime, how much Ive come is astonishing and it really, really altered my life.
Q: What occurred during the Six Week Meisner Intensive that you learned about yourself that surprised you or you changed?
A: I was surprised to think back on those roles that Ive realized and played that I ‘d no notion what I was doing. I didnt have training, I didnt possess a technique, I didnt discover the way to even prepare to get a function and with the Meisner technique you actually begin to realize what its like to craft and produce a nature plus a condition and live through something. I was so shocked and its almost laughable to think about what exactly that I did before this. Its hard for me to believe individuals have seen me and its embarrassing to be quite sincere.
